Honesty Policy

Cheating includes but is not limited to the following:
- Turning in any work that is not the student’s own work
- Copying another student’s (or author’s) work or class assignments
- Allowing another student to copy your work or class assignments
- Putting your name on someone else’s paper/project
- Copying another student’s answers on an individualized quiz/test
- Using a “cheat sheet” on a quiz/test
- Giving another student help on an individualized quiz/test
- Tampering with a teacher’s grade records
- Stealing and/or selling quizzes/exams
- Using teacher manuals/solution manuals
- Using electronic devices (cell phones, ipods, game system, mp3, etc.,) during quizzes/exams.
A student’s cheating offenses will be viewed as cumulative over the four years of high school regardless of the class(es) in which the offenses occur. Cheating over an extended period of time will be considered as a “second offense.” The teacher in charge is responsible for determining if cheating has occurred.
Consequences will include the following:

1. Referral to the administration
2. Parent phone contact
3. Loss of credit (receives at least a “0”) on work
4. Class suspension
5. Assignment to ATS

1. School suspension
2. F-drop from class

| Additional Offenses: |
1. School suspension
2. F-drop from class

| Final Exams Cheating Policy: |
If a student cheats on a final, a grade of “0” will be assigned and the student will be suspended from school for three days. An automatic drop with a grade of “fail” for the semester may be issued. A senior who cheats on a final exam may not be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. |
Note: The principal or designee may extend any of the penalties involved including transferring students to continuation school and initiating expulsion proceedings if circumstances dictate.
