Crescenta Valley High School's
Alumni and Alumnae

Welcome Falcons

Glendale-Online has helped us get CV its own piece of cyber "real estate" in the form of a proper web site address. The address is www.cvfalcons.com. For those of you that have this site bookmarked, please update it.

Three people now handle the pages. If you haven't sent in a picture of you for what you look like NOW (O.K., laugh if you want, class of 2006; it will happen to you too, if you're lucky enough to live as long as we have), you can either ATTACH it to an e-mail to the pagemaster for your year (below). Please, oh please, DO NOT SEND BMP OR TIF FILES! They are needlessly huge. We have to change them to JPG files anyway so please send them in that format. Also, make sure you identify yourself by your graduation name and year. Don't just send a file labled "me.bmp" or "scan01.jpg". We handle hundreds of files each week and can't read minds. Or, if you are without scanner or digital camera, send a photo with a stamped self-addressed envelope to Richard Adams and he'll scan them and return them to you. Send an e-mail for details. If you can't seem to get the alumni form to work, just send the same information to CV Alumni Webmaster.

Please note that this is the alumni page for Crescenta Valley High School, in La Crescenta, California. We've had people send in submissions from other schools with the initials CVHS (Central Valley, Clayton Valley, Crescent Valley, etc.) and wondered why we couldn't find their senior picture.

There is an organization that wants to do a celebration of high school basketball with an alumni basketball tournament of teams from the entire L.A. area. Click here to read more details (August 25 &endash; September 7)

Bill Thomas, the principal when CVHS started, has written a short history of the early years, including what it took to open the doors that first September, how a bunch of sophomores wowed the athletic league, and who made it happen. Click here to read it. Thank you, Dr. Thomas. We had no idea what went on behind the scenes. It seemed to work pretty smoothly from our point of view.

Do you remember Mr. Vestuto, who taught physical education at Clark Junior High and was later vice-principal at Monte Vista Elementary School? He passed away at the end of March of 2007. Click here for more details of his life and career.

Fred Lange, who taught science and coached (head baseball, assistant football) at CV from 1959 until 1970, died on July 4, 2005, of cancer. He was 74 years old. He moved his family to Utah in 1970 where he taught and coached for another 28 years. He talked often of his wonderful students, friends, and good times at CV.

An extremely helpful practice would be for the person in each class who is in charge of the next reunion or getting the mailing lists updated to send the respective webmaster their e-mail address and details of the next reunion. That information could be put at the top of the page for that year. We get lots of requests for that information now and think everyone could use it. USE this web page for keeping your alumni lists current!

We cannot be held accountable for the accuracy of these postings; we are entirely dependent on the honesty of the people who fill out the forms. Because of past abuses, we will no longer post death notices unless a valid e-mail address accompanies the information. We don't have to publish your e-mail address, but we would like to contact you for confirmation and then give credit by name to the person who cared enough for the deceased and their fellow alumni enough to make the memorial notice.

One last note: like anything you put on a webpage, search engines like Google can find it. That means if you put your home phone number down, somebody looking for your name can know what it is. The same thing with a detailed address. However, you MUST submit SOME WAY for alumni to contact you, such as an e-mail address. It's sometimes nice to put the state down too, just so we can picture you in our minds as we hear weather reports of tornados, hurricanes, 12 foot snowfalls, and we're here on the west coast. One trick some alumns do is to set up a free hotmail.com or yahoo.com e-mail account and use that as their "public" e-mail address they give out. That way all spam will go to that one and you can check that once a week or so. We are not connected directly with the reunion committees. We don't send them your address. Send it to them directly. On the other hand, the first place reunion committees look these days is on these webpages to get people's e-mail addresses for contact. We're happy to provide that service. If you want to remove all information from the web about yourself, go to Bob Rankin's page at http://askbobrankin.com/remove_phone_listing.html to find out how to remove your details from all TWELVE websites where it is stored. You can also read an article about privacy.

This Alumni section was established on August 27th, 1996.
